Israel to Launch Ground Offensive in Rafah
Israeli Forces Battle in Gaza Strip
At Least 45 Dead in Israeli Airstrike
JERUSALEM, March 21, 2024 (AP) - Israel is preparing to launch a ground offensive in Rafah, a city in the southern Gaza Strip, after a major airstrike killed at least 45 people, including women and children, at a camp for displaced Palestinians.
The Israeli military said its forces are moving deeper into Rafah, where they are facing fierce resistance from Palestinian militants. The city has been under heavy bombardment for the past several days, and thousands of Palestinians have fled their homes.
"There are no safe areas in Rafah for Palestinian civilians," said a spokesman for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
